The story behind it
For the star she will still be wearing at eighty.
At twelve she wants whatever her friends have. At twenty-five she will want something with a story. At fifty she will reach for the pieces she trusts.
A small gold Star of David on solid silver can be all three. It weighs less than a dime and sits close at the base of her neck. It goes to school, to the first job, to the wedding. One day she may pass it on, and it will still look like her.
My strength and my shield. That is what you have always been to me.

About this piece
This gold Star of David necklace is a small open Magen David in solid 925 sterling silver, finished in 18K gold plating or left bright silver. Small pavé cubic zirconia are set in the star. It weighs 1.45 grams, light enough to forget, and real enough to keep for life.
What it means
Magen David (מָגֵן דָּוִד) means the shield of David. The six-pointed star has marked Jewish prayer books, synagogues and homes for hundreds of years. Its verse, Psalm 28:7, uses the same word for shield: “Adonai uzi u'magini” (ה׳ עֻזִּי וּמָגִנִּי), the LORD is my strength and my shield.
Size and materials
- Metal: 925 sterling silver, stamped 925
- Finish: 18K gold plating, or bright silver
- Pendant: 11 × 9.5 mm
- Chain: 15.7 in + 2 in extender (40 + 5 cm), lobster clasp
- Weight: 1.45 g
- Stones: small cubic zirconia, pavé set
The star is about the size of a pinky fingernail. The chain sits close at the base of the neck, or at the collarbone with the extender. The gold is plating over silver, not solid gold.
Who it is for
A Bat Mitzvah girl, a mother, a grandmother, or a woman who wants one small star to wear every day. Choose gold if she wears warm tones, silver if her other jewelry is white metal. For Hanukkah, order by November 18 to have it before the first night, Friday, December 4.
The verse that goes with it: “The LORD is my strength and my shield.” (Psalm 28:7)
Care: Take it off to swim, shower or work out to keep the gold bright. Wipe with a soft cloth and store it dry, away from perfume.

The meaning behind it
A shield, worn over the heart.
-
Magen David. In Hebrew the six-pointed star is called the shield of David.
-
Centuries old. It has marked Jewish prayer books, synagogues and homes for hundreds of years.
-
Worn close. As a necklace, it says quietly who you are and who you come from.
“The LORD is my strength and my shield.”
Quick answers
Is it real silver?
Yes. Solid 925 sterling silver under the gold finish.
Will the gold wear off?
Plating lasts longest when the piece comes off for swimming, showers and the gym. The silver underneath never changes.
How big is the pendant?
11 × 9.5 mm (about 0.4 in). One photo shows it worn at its real size.
When will it arrive?
Ships in 1 to 3 business days and arrives in 7 to 15 business days, free and tracked anywhere in the US.
How it is worn
At the collarbone, close to the heart.
We show every pendant worn at its true size, because a 12 mm star and a 30 mm medallion are two very different gifts.
The exact chain length is on this page, with the extender if there is one: 16 inches sits at the base of the neck, 18 inches at the collarbone.
Chosen for what it means. Worn every day.
